MARTIN SUMMER

As an artist I’m always looking for what wants to become, what wants to speak. But as life is a symphony, not all the voices can be heard at same the time. There must be a harmony. There are many harmonies but which one wants to speak now ? Through life I watch and listen for where an old piece of iron and a cherry tree and some oak branches might want to have a conversation and see if I can facilitate that. In this way my work metamorphoses from many unusual objects into a living speaking whole. At the best of times it is as if I watch the work grow.
